5 Tips to Boost your Immunity During the Holidays

Fern-C_vitamin-C
Give the gift of immunity!
I love the Holiday season! I love to feel the Christmas spirit wherever I am!
All those bright lights, lovely decors and ornaments, and people spreading good cheer truly make my heart smile.

The Holiday is the best time to celebrate, but the worst time to get sick.

But the Holidays also coincide with the flu season. With malls and bazaars getting more crowded and people gathering in enclosed places - those bacteria are doing their rounds and illnesses start to spread. Plus, all the stress, sleepless nights, and unhealthy food indulgences can affect not just our waistlines but our immune system as well.

The last thing we want is to get sick or attend a party with streaming nose. When we're sick, we have no choice but to stay in bed, rest and miss all the holiday fun.

This Holiday season, we need to stay strong and healthy,
have more energy and be stress-free --- Santa can't be sick!

I'm sharing these 5 Tips for us to have a healthy, stress-free and happy Holiday - and keep that dreaded flu-Grinch away from us this season.

Tip 1: Power up with healthy foods!

Fern-C_health-tips-holiday1
Eat & be merry!
What you eat determines whether you face the season in sickness or in health.

A meal filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, and other nutritious food is the best way to boost your immune system. Most fruits and veggies contain antioxidants and Vitamins A & C which strengthen cells and gives our body shield against viruses and bacteria.

Nourish yourself with healthy snacks, drinks and desserts!

At most holiday parties, be mindful of what you feed your body. Avoid the temptation of over-indulging in sweets, fats, carbohydrates-loaded, low-nutritious food and alcohol. Remember, you can eat ham and lechon, but do so in moderation.

Share the meal too!
Feed yourself - Feed the hungry!

Making a real difference couldn't be more simple. Give moments of joy and make a huge difference. Your goodness can fill other's life with love. Remember the homeless, the families who have nothing on their table and the seniors in the nursing homes waiting for someone to share a meal with. This will make your holiday meal more fulfilling.

Tip 2: Make sleep a top priority!

Fern-C_health-tips-holiday2
Give yourself adequate ZZZs!
No matter how busy you are this Holiday season, your body needs to rest and recharge. Sleep gives us energy to last the busy day and makes us less vulnerable to stress. It even boosts our mood and keeps our skin glowing (that's an added bonus!)

And naps aren't just for kids. Squeeze in a short 20-minutes siesta time especially if you're sleep deprived. It's good not only as an energy booster, but also for our heart, blood pressure and stress levels.

Give yourself the gift of sleep.

Have at least 7 to 9 hours each night, plus, few minutes nap each day to recharge. Make rest your best friend as it helps your immune system stay strong.

Tip 3: Chill and Laugh it Off!

Fern-C_health-tips-holiday3
Don't sweat the small stuff!
True, Laughter is the best medicine. It serves as our bodies’ natural pain killer. From boosting our mood, improving our immune system and reducing stress hormones, the benefits of laughing is endless.

Laugh and be merry.
Laughter is indeed a beautiful gift.

The Holidays is a time to connect more with family and friends - near or far. Enjoy your time with them.  Share wonderful stories and sing Christmas carols together. Not only will this keep your body healthy, but your relationship as well.

Share the Smiles to everyone!
Life offers us an opportunity to give something back.

Cheer people up especially those who need them at this time of the year.

Even if things don't go as planned this holiday, relax and see the bright side. Take things easy. Be positive. If you feel stressed out and worried - close your eyes, take a deep breath and look at the sky. Realize the true meaning of the season and what you should be thankful for.

Tip 4: Move your body! Soothe your mind!

Fern-C_health-tips-holiday4
Exercise and meditate!
Just because it’s a Holiday means that your physical activity should be on holiday too. The Holiday is a time to celebrate, but not a reason to put on more weight.

So sweat it out! Get moving!

Exercise boosts the immune system and slows down the release of stress-hormones. Better make exercise a fun activity rather than a strenuous routine. Try walking around the neighborhood with your family, go biking with your friends, take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator, do Zumba or dance with the old folks. That's more fun than dragging yourself to go to the gym.

And, remember that when you sweat it out - keep yourself hydrated. Water flushes our harmful toxins from the body.

Take time for a quiet reflection
and fill your heart with hopes for the coming year.

Meditate to fight fatigue and stress. Meditation is the easiest and most practical way to soothe your mind and body. When you breathe deeply, the blood pressure lowers, giving you more ability to handle stressful situations. This is a good way to feel relaxed, rejuvenated and re-energized.

Tip 5: Be smart about supplements!

Take Fern-C vitamins!

Fern-C_health-tips-holiday5
Boost your immunity with FERN-C vitamins!
Getting sufficient nutrition from food alone is challenging. Some of our foods today are overly-processed, saturated with synthetic pesticides or lack essential nutrients our body needs. Vitamin C deficiency leads to weaker immune system, aging and illnesses. But this is something that Fern-C vitamins can solve!

Vitamin C plays a vital part in our overall health and wellness.

Why Fern-C?

Fern-C is an immune system booster and potent anti-oxidant. This supplement increases our body's resistance against infection and diseases especially this Holiday season.

Make Fern-C your daily dose for added immunity to ensure adequate nutrient support and build your immune system.
  • Fern-C increases body resistance from diseases
  • Fern-C protects the body against infections
  • Fern-C fight the harmful effects pollution
  • Fern-C ease stress and protects against stress related disorders

Fern-C Sodium Ascorbate

Fern-C is pure, natural and non-acidic. It does not upset the stomach. This is why I prefer FERN-C over other Vitamin C.

Compared to ascorbic acid, sodium ascorbate is soluble and provides the added benefits of the calcium. This calcium salt and alkaline content counter balances the acidity of ascorbic acid making it less irritating to the stomach. It aids in iron absorption that helps you feel energized throughout the day. Also, sodium ascorbate is easier absorbed by the body than ascorbic acid.

No wonder, shops, bookstores and department stores are already selling Christmas trees, lights and decorations. Some are even having an early holiday decor sale. Holiday Homes at Kansas City

Only a few days 'till Christmas Day! I love how the Christmas spirit fills the air with love, hope and happiness. Christmas music and parties are all over. Though traffic is everywhere and mall stores and bazaar are filled with shoppers beating the Christmas rush, people are still in a good mood most of the time.

I have already wrapped our presents and gave a few already. There are still a couple of gifts to buy and wrap, which we could do over the weekends. Buying gifts is one thing that I enjoy and will never get tired of doing. As a family tradition, everyone in the family will be celebrating Christmas Eve at my grandparent's home. It's where our family and relatives eat Noche Buena and do our gift-giving. It's where all kids in our family get too excited with the gifts that they'll get to receive. It’s a simple family celebration that we all look forward to.

It's really great to see all those houses and streets filled with Christmas lights and decorations, and of course, families celebrating together. Some would even travel to their provinces to spend the holidays with their families.  Indeed, Christmas is best celebrated at home with your loved ones.

I'm wondering how holiday homes at Kansas City looks like. People living near or around the city and are planning to purchase or rent a home for the holidays should consider several factors before making a decision.

If your family plans to travel this Holiday season you can include Kansas City is in one of your places to visit. There are many Kansas City real estate houses and apartments available in the market. You can find many affordable and convenient holiday houses, vacation rentals and apartments that fit your needs and budget. While at the city, you can enjoy several holiday festivals and events. Of course, you should not forget to visit theme parks, museums, and other attractions in the city. You'll find plenty of cool activities and stuff to do while you’re at Kansas.

Wherever you will be this Christmas, whether you’re at home or away with your family, let the spirit of the season burn in your life. It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Remember 2011 | Kids Performances

"To establish true self-esteem we must concentrate on our successes and forget about the failures and the negatives in our lives." - Denis Waitley, American motivational speaker and writer, consultant and best-selling author

My kids' performances is one way that helps develop their confidence. They are enjoying every program rehearsals, getting in their costumes and being there on stage. It helps become aware of their own abilities and self-importance.

Grand Ballet Recital at CCP

Dancing at the CCP stage is a dream come true for my daughter. Effie Nanas ballet presented Enchanted Ballet last November. She danced Chinese Tea for the Nutcraker - Clara's Dream and "Butterfly" for Snow White.

Taking photos and videos inside the CCP theater is not allowed, so we only have pre and post photos of her.

Personalized Christmas Gift Items

Christmas is just a few days away. Almost everyone is busy finalizing their gift lists, buying and wrapping presents and preparing for the festive season.

We still haven't completed buying gifts for our family, godchildren and hand loved ones. I've only bought a couple of toys and ordered personalized items for my kid's teachers. Hopefully, we can complete our gift lists by next week.

Giving personalized items makes someone remember the gift for a lifetime. These are unique items that bring sentimental value.

It is not unusual to find companies giving away customized items such as mugs, pens, badges, lanyards, buttons and stationary items. These customized items more affordable and cheaper compared to advertising on billboards, print ads or other media. The imprinted name and logo will always remind people, especially their customers, about their products and services. These are usually given to their customers, suppliers, clients and new targets during trade fairs and events, not just during the Christmas season, but all year round. It's an effective marketing strategy since product retention becomes stronger.

Customized mugs make great event giveaways. These are also gifts that everyone can use. Printing on mugs brings attention to the company and its products. There are ceramic mugs and travel mugs with different styles and designs that you can always choose from.

Last December 11, after my daughter's ballet class, I've attended a mommy blogger's party at Legend Villas.

School Christmas Party Gifts and Clothes

I took these pictures before my kids entered the school gate.

christmas party clothes, pettiskirt

My daughter wore her ruffled Gummy top, a pettiskirt made by a family-friend, shoes and headpiece from her two ninangs. My son wore his shirt and pants from Elle and shoes from Oshkosh.

I didn't get to see how their classroom Christmas party was. I just let our yaya took some pictures inside their classroom. But from their stories, I knew that they had so much fun with the party games and the little gifts they received from their classmates and teachers.

My kids also gave their teachers personalized Christmas gifts from Artscow.

artscow memopad, christmas ornaments, personalized gifts

Before November, I already knew what to give their teachers. Since I'm fond of creating personalized items at Artscow, memo pads and ornaments be the perfect gift for them. Deliveries during the Holidays usually takes a longer time and I have to wait for more than three weeks. Good thing, I received my orders on the second week of December, just in time for my the Christmas party of my kids. Artscow didn't fail me.

I'm impressed with the quality of their memo pads and the ornaments. I'll thinking of ordering more items next year.

Christmas Stockings at Shangrila Mall

I'm always impressed at the decors around Shangrila Plaza not just during the Holidays. The first thing I've noticed this season are the giant colorful boots at the entrance.

DIY-christmas-stocking, christmas ornament, shangrila mall

My youngest sister and I took part in the Christmas Stocking Making Activity at Shangrila Mall last December 4. Our time had been well spent while waiting for my daughter's ballet class to finish. It's good that the venue was held just beside the Dance Centre.

We've decorated our own Christmas stockings using  different art materials provided. There were lots of cute Christmas ornaments, ribbons, glitters and things to choose from.

After an hour, this is the finish product.

I know my sister enjoyed this activity as much as I do! She's an art lover and really passionate about arts and crafts.

This Christmas stockings making activity was held to help decorate Shangrila Mall. These will be hung at the giant trees near the fountain at the Grand Atrium. Wow! I'll have to take pictures when I saw our Christmas stockings hanging at the Christmas tree!

If you'll drop by Shangrila Plaza Mall, don't forget to take your picture at the lovely Christmas tree!

I just bought some Barbie and Hotwheels items. My sister was able to score a new bottle sterilizer for only Php 2,000 and some baby items, while my youngest sister enjoyed her Beados and refill kit.

I saw people hoarding Leap Frog stuffs (obsolete models), Barbie items and clothes, and Hotwheels shirt (which was gone as soon as the boxes are opened, as what my former officemate who now works at Richwell told me.)

We just can't get enough of these sales and we'll be back on December!

If you'll be visiting Richwell sale, don't forget to bring Cash. Payment is on a cash basis only.

Happy Shopping!

'Twas The Night Before Christmas

Christmas Eve
Christmas gifts

Our family Christmas Eve is always celebrated at mommy lola's (grandma's) house. It's where everyone exchange gifts, enjoys taking pictures and share in the simple Noche Buena. It's also the time when tito's and tita's working abroad made their phone calls. Lately, we're using the computer to connect with them and see one another online. It's wonderful the kids happiness as they get to receive all their gifts and as they line up for their Christmas "Aguinaldo".

Sharing some of our the pictures from our Christmas Eve celebration:
