Enfakid A+ See What They Learn

Discount Vouchers Instead? No, Thanks!

Sometimes, Facebook promos can be like this.

Since I was online when I saw this message, I joined on the same date and did the simple mechanics.

Hours after, I received their message saying - "Where are you located so we can give you the address to pick up the vouchers?"  It means I'm entitled to have the Free Barre 3 GC.

And I replied back, with ".... nearest The Spa branch is the one at Eastwood. Thanks!"

More than three weeks after, they sent me this message:

Frustrating? Not really.
Disappointed? Not that much.
Unprofessional? Oh well.

So, did I take the Php 200 discount voucher instead? NO. Claiming it is not worth my time and effort.

I just said, "Thanks anyway... just save the discount vouchers, baka maubos pa for your ongoing promo :)"

I have no idea how many Free Barre 3 GC they have (or IF they really have) or how many joined their last month's promo, when until now, they only have 17 Twitter followers.

Maybe it's just their false promotion for getting more Facebook followers.

Just this morning, I saw that they have another ongoing promo where you can get Php 200 discount vouchers from Barre 3, The Spa(?). But, as of this writing, I can't see their wall post anymore. They didn't block me, but I guess, their cleaning it up.

Their profile info states that they are from and are currently in these Grad Schools - Ateneo de Manila University (Class of 2012), University of Asia and the Pacific (Class of 2010) and Ateneo de Manila University School of Law (Class of 2014). They're a team that manages corporate events, exhibits and a lot more.

I give high regards for people from these schools, unfortunately, this team did not earn my respect.

Group name withheld. Negative feedback, in a way, is still publicity.
But, if you still want to have a Php 200 discount voucher from them, you can send me a PM on my Facebook page (and just hope that they'll be true to their words) :)

Posting this is just my way of sharing that sometimes things like this can happen and maybe even more.

Cartoon Character Facebook Profile Pictures Invasion

There's a new trend that's going viral on Facebook. Facebook users are replacing their profile pictures with photos of their favorite cartoon characters from their childhood.

The message says that this is a campaign to promote awareness of an increase in violence against children.

Change your facebook profile picture to a cartoon until Monday (Dec.6) there should be no human faces on facebook, but an invasion of memories. This is for violence against children.

Is this a goal to see how far Facebook can go and make people do this change; or one way to promote social awareness to take further actions against violence?

Yesterday, I've seen Facebook friends joined the campaign and put pictures of characters from the 70s, 80s, 90s and even recent cartoon characters. But it seems that the full force began today! In a span of hours, more than a hundred of my friends had changed their profile pictures!

Facebook Cartoon Profile Pictures

It's quite enjoyable to seen all those characters now. I've seen Hello Kitty, Sailor Moon, The Little Twin Stars, Smurfs and Smurfette, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Aladdin and Princess Jasmine, Astroboy, Batibot (local cartoon), Pooh and Piglet, Tinkerbell, Disney Princesses, Peter Pan, Voltes V, Daimos, GI Joe, X-Men, Rugrats, Olive, Candy Candy, Bugs Bunny, Tweety Bird, Garfield, Betty Boop, Pocoyo and a lot more!

Chilhood memories and the feelings it brought can never be replaced,. It seems like cartoon life is simple yet almost perfect, where everything comes with what you wished for.

Maybe I'll join trend and support this campaign... I'm torn amongst The Care Bears, Rainbow Brite, Hello Kitty and KeroKeroPi. Oh, maybe I'll go for Rainbow Brite! Her real name is Wisp and her talking horse is named Starlite. She was that little girl who wore a rainbow painted dress.

How about you, who's your favorite childhood cartoon character?
Have you changed yours?

On Facebook Contests and Friend Requests

I love Facebook, but I'm not addicted. Months ago, I used to play FB games, but not anymore. There are even days when I won't login into my Facebook account. Nowadays, I'm grateful if I have 30-minutes or an hour to spent to keep in touch, update my status and be updated with my friend's.

Just how many FB friends do I have now? Over 400. My list comprises of my family, relatives, former colleagues, mommy friends, online friends, acquaintances, former schoolmates... and probably less than 10% remains uncategorized. I'm already starting to organize and create a Friend List.

On Friend Requests.

Everytime I get to login on my account, I check each friend request. Until now, I still have 21 friend request pending in my queue! I just want to ignore each one even if we have mutual friends. I don't just accept friend request from people. I'd rather keep my list than worry in the end. Security, privacy and preventing identity theft is also important. I just don't get it why these people whom I don't know would add me on their list. Is it because they want to be friends (but there's no attached message). Is it because I'm friends with their friends and we have lots of mutual friends? Or simply because they want the numbers in their account to keep on growing???

I instantly confirm requests from people I really knew, but not for the others where I have no idea who they are. I guess it would be more appropriate that they would send me a message together with that request.

I am always open to making new friends, but not on the idea of meaningless friendship, and not just about the add-me-I-know-you friends.

On Joining Contests.

Contest and promos are also rampant on Facebook. Everyday, there seems to be a new contest - tag your friends, like this-and-that, comment and win, post this on your profile and tag your friends, most number of likes win, and a lot more! I've joined a couple of this and won only few. At Facebook, it is anyone's ball game.

Still, I choose what contest to join. I've been tempted to join contests wherein you will have to change your profile picture and use their's. This is something I would never be part of. I might be a fan, but I am not representing their company or their product. I value myself and my profile picture more than winning. I won't change mine's just to try my luck and get chances.

Facebook brings countless benefits and enjoyment. Still, it is just right that I continue to uphold my values and my preferences.

My Farm and My Resturant

restaurant city facebookfarmville facebook

I admit it, I am getting fond of playing Farmville and Restaurant City in Facebook. These are two of the most popular and addictive games on Facebook. I am hooked because it is like playing with friends too!

There is just so many things you can do on Facebook, that I initially felt overwhelmed by the different applications and requests by friends. For more than 3 months, the most I had done is to accept friend request. It was when my little sister urges me to play Farmville, YoVille and Restaurant City that I start to spent my time on playing these simulation games. I was also influenced by my other sister and some friends for they kept saying that Facebook is now much better than Multiply and Friendster. It is then that I have decided to give Facebook my time.

Now, I am fascinated with a farm and a restaurant. Well just maybe through these games I can experience a life totally different from mine.

In reality, this does not speak about what my passion is. I grew up, lived and stayed in the city all my life. I had never experienced living in the province nor stayed in a farm. I had only seen farm lots; I have been to Strawberry farm in Baguio City, but I had never experienced farming, harvesting, milking cows, and other works that people do on the farm.

I love to eat and I enjoy most food, but then I am not good at preparing and cooking a meal. I would fail if people ask me what are the ingredients to a certain dish. The most I can do is buy fruits and food items for my kids at the grocery; though I do not know if this counts. Maybe this is also one reason why magazines, blogs and websites about food interest me.

A time to work and a time to play.

The important thing is I can manage my time well; I keep on reminding myself to stop "facebooking" and get back to work! But it is always good to keep a balance of everything.

... and I know too that these addiction shall pass.

Facebook Username Gold Rush

Facebook team allowed the public to create their usernames or vanity URL last June 13. It's like land and gold rush since millions joined in the rush and some even had slight competition against the URLs they desire. Even some journalists have pre-reserved their usernames. I can't believe that there's also username squatting!

Well, I haven't experienced any trouble claiming my desired username. I didn't even rush and register my username on the day of the launch. I think there's still no one in this world with a name exactly the same as mine. Unless, my "so-called Impostor" had claimed it before I do.

This would be the Facebook username and vanity URL forever since facebook says that it can never be changed -
http://www.facebook.com/czaroma

facebook usernameThis is easier to remember and share with others that the previous Facebook URL consisting of a bunch of random numbers. A move similar to Twitter's. This is a huge success for Facebook. Their representatives reported that more than 200,000 usernames were registered in the first 3 minutes and 3 million after 12 hours! It was the busiest day for Facebook; even generating record high traffic!

For those who haven't claimed their Facebook URL, you can claim it here: http://www.facebook.com/username. But for those who joined after June 9, you would be eligible to claim your username on June 28.

Even if I have claimed my URL, I still need to have time and spend a few minutes on my facebook. For now, the most I can do is accept friend request; hopefully soon I can keep my account updated. Still, all my blog friends and visitors can add me on Facebook :)
