April Magazines Grand Slam

The month of April is my daughter's birth month. Now, she's already 6 years old. It had been a simple family celebration and I'm glad she got what she wished for.


Knowing that her pictures got published in the April issue of the magazines that we frequently read is so delightful. Its like a birthday gift for her too! I can almost say that it's indeed a Grand-Slam moment!

Little Policeman Strikes Two

What I want to be when I grow up? A year ago, this was the costume party theme in my kids’ preschool, as part of their Halloween activity. My son, who is attending last year's toddler class, came in as a police general - a costume borrowed from my husband's officemate. We spent only on the name patch, that reads Gen. Brent Roman, and police accessories that we brought on a toy store.


Coincidentally, two local parenting magazines had the this theme too. I submitted Brent's picture and luckily, the same photo was published twice! First was in Working Mom magazine February 2009 issue Mommy Moments page, and just recently in MomsToday September-October 2009 issue Precious Moments section. He even received a gift pack from Growee from the latter.

Seeing these fills me with much joy, because I know that even though my son seldom smiles for the camera, he made it on those two magazines that I buy frequently. Now, I wonder what he would be when he grows up. Would he really be a police officer? Well, no matter what he wants to be, we would always let him know that we have his support.

Working Mom May 2009: My Makeover

I got featured at Working Mom's magazine May 2009 issue's makeover session! This is what I am waiting for. This is the first time that I got the chance to be "model-for-a-day". I had a great time at Piandre salon and it was such a very wonderful experience! Thank you Ms. Leah and Ms. Romina for this opportunity!

I didn't realize that a photoshoot could be tiring, maybe because I am not used to wearing makeup and high heels, and of course, it was really hot outside! But this is nothing compared to the what I've learned from this experience.

Backtrack: I got excited when I received the email from Ms.Leah San Jose (managing editor), informing me that I am the first reader who got chosen for the makeover session. It had been a 2-day makeover session. The first was an image consultation with the stylist and image consultant, Ms.Romina Urra-Gonzales and the second part is the makeover and photoshoot session.

I had been really thankful not just because I got to appear in the magazine, but more so, I learned a great deal about myself even more. I learned to complement my body shape and know the clothes perfect for me and my lifestyle. It was indeed a transformation! Few months from now, I'll be turning 30... there'll be more changes to look forward to and I am glad that Working Mom had started it all. True enough, this makeover is perfect in time for my 30th birthday!

This is the finale! This is also the reason why I blogged about my Image Awareness and why I'm Sporting a New Look. I've previously chosen to keep information on hold until such time that this magazine was published.

February is Brent's Month

Perfect and in-time with Brent's birthday are his pictures that got published in Working Mom Magazine's "What I Want To Be" theme and in Manila Bulletin's Birthday Corner (February 14, 2009). February is indeed my baby Brent's month. He's not really fond of having his pictures taken, let alone smile in front of the camera; still, he felt so proud whenever he get to see himself in the magazine. And these simple moments of seeing him happy brings much joy to my life.
