Living with a grateful heart

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend." - Melody Beattie

Just a quick gratitude post.

I received this from the mail last week - a Starbucks gift certificate that was shipped from Singapore. A token from participating in an emailed survey of an online marketing company.

Thank you.

Even if life had been crazy at times, I remain to be thankful for a lot of wonderful things.

I know I am blessed.
I look at the world with appreciation.
I celebrate the goodness of life.
I live with a grateful heart.

Swimming Lessons: Bert Lozada Swim School at Ace Water Spa

My son took his first swimming lessons at Bert Lozada, Ace Water Spa, Pasig branch. He was part of the first batch.

happiness!

Off to the male locker.

Since my son is already 7-years-old, he's not allowed be inside the female locker room. That worried us since he'll be alone inside the male locker room! Grateful that Ace Water Spa and Bert Lozada's staff assisted him inside.

see you after class!
Parents and guardians are not allowed in specified places, especially in the pool area. There are attendants so you won't have to worry too much. Just keep a watchful eye on your kid.

I watched and took some photos from the 2nd floor window.

Stretching exercises before the lesson.

Basic floating. Head under water.

now, I'm floating!
Facing his fears and learning the basics are very important for me. They taught lessons fitted for my son and he was able to progress at his own rate.

I agree with their swimming method, "There are no shortcuts to achieve total independence or success in the water."

Glad that my son was able to enjoy his summer days. Though things had not started well on his first day, and we have to call on the school's attention, it ended well.

I know that the10 days swimming session is not enough since he's just starting with the basics. Until now, he's asking me to take more swimming lessons at Ace Water Spa.

Thanks to everyone at Ace Water Spa, for making Brent's summer lessons an enjoyable one! Special mention to Teacher Rojar (his swimming teacher) and Teacher Oliver (his locker room buddy).

If you're planning to enroll your kids at D' Ace Plaza, here are some reminders:
  • Be there 15 minutes before the class starts
  • Before every lesson, you need to go to Bert Lozada's office at the lower ground to give your ID in exchange of a swimmer's pass
  • Then, present the swimmer's pass at the reception area to get your stub and locker room key
  • Go inside the locker room and give your stub. They will keep your shoes, sandals or slippers
  • Then, take a shower a few minutes before the lesson starts
Proper swimming attire, goggles, kick board and swimming caps are required. But you can borrow caps for free if you don't have any.

What I love most about Ace Water Spa?
  • Swimming at their heated indoor pool without worrying about sunburn
  • Helpful and courteous staffs
  • Systematic procedures and safety rules for everyone's benefit
Summer isn't over yet. You and your kids still have time to take swimming lessons or other activities before school starts.

You can join the last batch of Bert Lozada's swimming lessons. Batch 5 runs from May 22 - June 1, 2013.

Back to Normal

I had been very busy as soon as year 2013 started.
We spent weeks packing our things for the big move.
We spent days reviewing for mi kid's quarterly exams and preparing for their school activities.
Days when it seems that the hours we had was never enough.
Stress. Busy. Challenges. Worries.
There had been a couple of things and work that I had failed to do.
Still, I remain to be thankful for what life had given me and my family.
Life had remained to be great.
Our family had been blessed more.
The greatest blessing is celebrating our son's 7th birthday.
A celebration which turned out to as simply the best.
His simple birthday wish was granted... and I saw more than happiness in his eyes!
Soon, hopefully in days time, things will get back to normal.
I know it would be.

Signs for Health and Safety

Every day, I can see different signs all over. There are several signs around the village where we live. Parking signs remind people not to park their vehicles on the road and use the parking building instead. There are also warning and safety signs in the clubhouse that includes reminders on the proper use of the swimming pool. Directional signage, building names and on-going maintenance can also be seen around. Weeks ago, construction and caution signs are mounted on the hallway in the condominium building where my parents are staying. It informs people of the ongoing maintenance to fix the floor paint in the hallway.

Since there are also dogs around the village, there is a specific place where these friends can dump their poo. Even those "Keep off the Grass" warnings are placed on some areas. Though sometimes, there can be some inconsiderate neighbors who seem to ignore all these signs.

As you travel and commute on the road, there are more signs that we can see like traffic signs, road signs and street signs. There are also caution and danger signs in some areas of the city, especially in those places where buildings are being constructed. Making oneself well informed of several OSHA signs help prevents accidents to happen. Signs are the best reminder and a great way to keep our lives safer.

Signs are something that I never fail to notice. If you keep an attentive eye, you can also take notice of those funny signs. Wouldn't it be fun to see those signs like "No Barking Anytime" which can be placed in the front yard of someone who can't stand the nonstop barking of dogs? If you're fond of signs spotting, you'll also get amused by signs that can make you laugh as well. You can search about funniest road signs on the Internet if you need a good laugh.

All these signs are placed to inform people and attract attention. It should not be ignored, especially when it would bring benefit to your health and safety. You won't be spending lots of minutes on those signs. Sometimes a glance and a few seconds is enough to keep you safe.

Goodbye 2012, Welcome 2013

My free verse thoughts as I welcome the New Year...

Remembering 2012 would always bring sadness and joy,
and my heart yearning.

Like a dream - filled with drama and goodbyes,
Of bitter sweet memories,
and glimpses of tears that travels to heaven.

Learning. Experiences.

2012 made me more prouder of my kids' achievement -
A kindergarten graduation welcome address and winning a declamation.
Dances and more dances.
Capturing all their achievements, big or small.
Their confidence, passion and learning makes life more meaningful.

Like a star, you made me famous for a day or two.
A magazine appearance and short morning TV show segment,
With paychecks and talent fees at hand.

Of the countless winnings and blessings I received, I am grateful.
You give me more than what I need,
Much more than what my heart desires.

How would I look back at you, 2012?
With memories I wanted to cherish,
With every twists and countless turns.
When there are times I wish would be just gone into oblivion.
Days when I prayed... wishing things would otherwise be different.

Fears and cheers.
Those sweet sprinkles helped me endure the heat and dryness of summer.
Feeling the love and support kept our strength and our faith.
More meaningful family togetherness becomes a treasure.. timeless.

Still.
I struggle yet remain to be challenged.
I braved the storms and the strong wind.
I've seen life beyond than what is supposed to be.

Breathing softly.
Pages turned... a chapter closed.

Moving on.

Now, I welcome 2013 with a happy heart.
With hope and strength.
Filled with more love, stronger faith and wonderful togetherness.
Looking forward for better moments and the best days we can have.

Saying Hello to 2013!
Cheers and Happy New Year everyone!
Let's all have 365 days to be thankful for!

Wake Me Up When September Ends

"As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends."
- Green Day

Weird. But this song that reminded me that, "hey, it's already September!"

Reminding me that time really flies so fast. Of things coming to an end. Moving on.
Of realizations that hardships, pain and losses, detours that make me more stronger.
Making me remember the best moments... Looking forward to a better life ahead.

The last week of July and the month of August had been too fast. I've set aside this blog, logging into Facebook, and even missed a lot of opportunities to have more time with life.

+ What had been
School activities from Nutrition Month and House System to Buwan ng Wika.
Suspension of classes due to heavy rains and flooding.
Dealing with the loss of a beloved family member.
Getting behind the scenes!
Working out piles of work and issues.
Being here, there and everywhere. :)

I'll be posting few snippets from the past weeks after this post or maybe after this week.

"Ring out the bells again
Like we did when spring began
Wake me up when September ends."

Hope you are all doing great!

I Choose to Remember

“May you never forget what is worth remembering, nor ever remember what is best forgotten” ~ Irish Blessings quotes

A woman remembers only the best things in life.

I choose what I share and what I write. I write and blog moments that I want to cherish. I keep track of experiences that give meaning to my life. I only choose to remember life lessons and situations that make life worth living. My joys and successes are more important than my pains and sorrows.

As much as possible I renounce writing about frustrations, disappointments, hateful words and problems. The world is made up of all these, and I don't want to surround myself with these negativities. When others can easily write about the traffic, complain about the poor service they get; the people they loathe or politicians they hate, find fault in someone else and the countless energy draining circumstances; I choose not to. However, I will never allow a bad experience or a dissatisfaction to pass, instead I'll work on it in a different manner.

Yes, I whine, got angry, feel disappointed; I suffer, I feel bad, etc. etc. I had experienced and will continue to feel all these from time to time. Yet I learned how to view everything in a different angle. Between a painful situation and the lessons gained from that experience, I would always choose to remember and share the later.

Life is not perfect and it is not always fair. This I accept. Everything is just a matter of acceptance, of learning and growing. Maybe by choosing not to dwell on the negative side of life, my perception changes and I become more optimistic... and I can always say that life and living is truly wonderful.

Kids Crooked Houses

I love kid's playhouses. Looking at these crooked houses keeps me young at heart. How fun it would be to enjoy playtime and create wonderful childhood memories at these little houses.

crooked playhousesPhoto Source: http://www.kidscrookedhouse.com

These crooked playhouses are creative wooden playhouses for kids. It can be customized to fit the interest of a child.

Price check. A single playhouse starts from $1,249.00 and a double deluxe costs $4,449.00. Quite pricey!

These kids crooked houses are becoming more popular for it had been recently part of the show, John and Kate plus 8. It is showcased as a part of the episode where they created four "crooked houses" for the 8 adorable kids; the episode where John and Kate announced their divorce. It's like showing the parodies that lies within the Gosselin family! I am not a fan of this popular reality show. But, it is just sad to hear about a marriage that leads into a downfall and would affect their whole family.

Learnings. Life is more than living in a beautiful house or creating impressive ones for people to see. It is more important to create a happy and peaceful home worth living for the whole family.
