Gourmet Cooking & Cleanup

If you are someone who likes to cook then you know how much fun it is to conceive and execute a great meal from start to finish – not only is it incredibly satisfying, it’s enjoyable to sit down and share a wonderful meal with family and friends. Probably the least interesting part is the cleanup, especially when it comes time to address all the pots and pans and kitchen utensils and cutlery which need to be washed by hand. It can be tempting to toss everything into the dishwasher and call it a night but you know that’s not the right way to treat your cooking equipment and you will regret it in the long run.

Knives of all kinds, from fillet and boning knives to paring and steak knives and others, should never be placed in the dishwasher regardless of how they may be labeled. The hot water used in the wash cycle and the heat of the dry cycle can compromise knife construction and loosen rivets and other fittings which secure the blade to the handle. Knives should never be submerged in water for any length of time; most professional cooks clean their cutlery by wiping it with a damp cloth and then toweling it dry. Rust and corrosion are the result of moisture and can degrade knife quality and performance.
When it comes to cleaning pots and pans it can be a wise idea to let hot water and soap do the work – when you have a pan or baking dish with burned on food you will find it much easier to clean if you fill it with soap and hot water and just let it sit for a while. If you are up against a really tough job you may wish to consider spraying oven cleaner on the pot or pan as this can help to break down burned on residue.

Disaster Emergency Numbers

"Be strong now, because things will get better;
it might be stormy now but it can't rain forever."

It's been raining nonstop and several areas in Metro Manila and nearby provinces are already flooded.

Classes and some government offices had been suspended due to the bad weather.

Remind yourself to:
  1. Be safe.
  2. Stay indoors and avoid travelling as much as possible.
  3. Be alert and listen to the news.
  4. Have an emergency kit ready.
  5. Charge your mobile phones.
  6. Keep your important documents safe.
  7. Be prepared for emergency evacuation.
This will come in handy. Have a copy of these Hotline Numbers that you can call for disaster emergency situations, especially urgent rescue and relief needs.

Also refer to this comprehensive list of government information during national disaster. http://www.gov.ph/government-information-during-natural-disasters/

Keep praying that floods will subside and everyone will be safe.

Mobility Aids for Elderly

Old age is an inevitable process wherein lots of difficulties start to arise. It's the age where mobility becomes difficult since muscles and joints are becoming weaker.

My grandma, who’s in her late 80s, can still move around the house. But she's having a hard time sitting and raising from her chair. She needs to hold onto something or someone when walking especially when there are stair steps. She relies on her trusted umbrella that she uses as a cane. From time to time, we would bring her wheelchair when going out of the house.

We all want her to enjoy life with lesser difficulties and give her the best years. Everyone in the family is concerned about her health and safety. Aside from my cousins, it's also good that someone is taking care of preparing her food, washing her clothes, and cleaning the house.

Elderly people and seniors really need help in carrying out their everyday tasks without any hindrance. There are products and care guide in the market like Parentgiving.com that provides assistance to the elderly.

Bobcat 4 Wheel Compact Scooter
If you have an elderly parent and loved ones, there are medical supplies in NJ and mobility equipments that will help them move around with ease. Aside from walking canes and wheelchairs, it's also good to consider electric scooters. These can be used inside their homes and outdoors as well. We can have peace of mind as we help them maintain their independence and safety.

Embrace Life

"The tide recedes but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down, but gentle warmth still lingers on the land.
The music stops, and yet it echoes on in sweet refrains
For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains."

I wouldn't ask why everything happened so swiftly
Left with great memories to treasure and keep.

Outpour of emotions and tears.
Sleepless nights.
Overflowing prayers.

"Your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part
God had you in His keeping, and we have you in our hearts."

In our hearts, you will live forever.
Your love, your laughter and your voice will never fade.

Gone in a place without suffering and pain
But perfect peace, joy and eternal life in God's arms.

Acceptance.
Though your departure left a void.

Moving on, yet remembering.
Strengthened by love and faith.

"Life is not a matter of milestones, but of moments."

Realizations.

Make everyday worth remembering
Life is short. Cherish it.

Ace Water Spa Pasig

excited for their spa experience :)

After school, our family decided to visit Ace Water Spa in Pasig City for mama's pre-birthday celebration. We spent hours at trying different Hydrotherapy massages. The kids enjoyed the kid's pool with the elephant slide and the lazy river where they lied down on floating foams.

The Rainfall Acupuncture is my favorite. I love how the raindrops massage different parts of my body while lying down. My daughter loved being there too, while my son enjoyed the Bubble Pool.

The Head and Shoulder Massage, Waist Jet Massage and Jet Chair Massage are great as well. Mom enjoyed the Water Falls massage that much.

We also tried the hot Herbal Pools. Kids below 12 years old are not allowed in this area because of the hot temperature. These hot herbal pools have natural herbs like lavender, jasmine and mint.

After immersing in the hot herbal pool, you have to plunge into the ice cold pool. This is needed to keep the body temperature and heart rate at normal level. Or you can take the Eight Nozzle Shower instead, which is an alternative way of cooling down.

There are also Steam and Sauna rooms which we've tried for just a few seconds.

We left the place before 10 p.m. We really enjoyed our first visit at Ace Water Spa and we're planning of coming back soon. It relaxes and soothes our tired muscles, and we felt great the morning after.

The different kind of Hydrotherapy Massage experience with its soft, moderate and hard intensities is really therapeutic. You can choose which massages would benefit specific areas of your body.

Fitted swimwear is strictly followed. Swim caps are provided courtesy of Ace. You only need to bring your own bath towel. Toiletries like shampoo, liquid soap, hair dryer, gel, and cotton buds are also provided.

The place has spacious locker room to keep your belongings, shower area and changing area. It is also best to go on a weekday and during the non-peak hours. Cameras are not allowed inside the wet area.

Rate:
Php 550.00/adult and P250.00/kid (4 ft. and below)
This is good for 4 hours of stay.
