My kids have varied interests, but they both love books, comic books and magazines. Aside from their monthly magazine subscriptions, a week won't be complete without a trip to the bookstore. They are looking forward to the day when they can buy "lots of books!" Sooner, their little corner at home would start to look like a mini-library.

Private Iris would be a great addition to their reading materials! I'm thrilled to know that by unanimous decision I've WON a 12-issue subscription of Private Iris from Manilamommy's Giveaway! The gift certificate from the Picture Company is also an added bonus.

Hug Your Kids Everyday

“We need four hugs a day for survival. We need eight hugs a day for maintenance. We need twelve hugs a day for growth.” - Virginia Satir, family therapist

Hugs warm the heart and touches the soul.

I love giving my kids a hug, holding them close to my heart and wrapping them in the warm folds of my arms. It's my way of letting them know that I value and love them. It makes me feel good and I know that it makes my kids happier too.

July 19 is Hug Your Kids Day! It's a global, year-round movement, encouraging parents to hug their kids every day. It's a program founded by Michelle Nichols, who believes that hugs can make a kid's day, and even change his life.

It's good that here in the Philippines, Children's Clusivol supports this movement through the National Yakap Your Child Day. I've supported this movement and joined the thousands of people who have pledged to hug their kids everyday!

I've sent in three pictures at Yakapables.com simply to show my commitment - a picture hugging my daughter, hugging my son and hugging both of them. With sheer luck, our picture was even chosen as one of the Winning Photo for Week 1. I've got to receive a limited edition Yakapable shirt and gift packs.

It feels good to give and receive a hug. Support this movement and hug your kids everyday!

Chooks to Go

We're fond of eating roasted chicken and we've liked Chooks to Go the moment we first tasted it. There's a lot of roasted chickens in the Philippine market, but Chooks to Go is the juiciest and absolutely the tastied oven-roasted chicken.

Their famous line, "Masarap Kahit Walang Sauce!", is true indeed!

It's really tasty even without the sauce and even cheaper than other leading roasted chickens in. This is the reason why it appeals to their customers. A lot of customers have already given this chicken a thumbs up.

Try Chooks to Go!

Swan Lake Ballet

A uniquely enchanting romance crystallized in an iconic and captivating ballet."

Swan Lake is one of the best-loved classical ballets of all time. Based on a Russian folk tale, it is a moving story of a beautiful maiden who becomes free of a curse that turns her into a swan.

My daughter and my youngest sister were mesmerized watching the ballet performance of Tchaikosvsky’s Swan Lake at CCP Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo. They were delighted by the movement especially by the swans clad in white tutus gliding in the stage. They were so in sync and inspiring, and the performance seems as effortless as possible.

It's a story that fought mistaken identities and stood against a sorcerer. The Swan princess forgives the prince for being deceived by the trickery of the sorcerer. It's about faith and believing that love always prevails. A realization that love really changes everything.

Philippine Ballet Theatre's Swan Lake features guest artist Linnar Looris of the Houston Ballet as Prince Siegfried and PBT's own Tiffany Mangulabnan as Odette/Odile.

Cameras are not allowed inside the theatre. I just took pictures after the show using my cellphone :)

Thank you so much Kumiko Mae for the tickets. We really enjoyed the show!

Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Twilight-eclipse, Twilight Saga, Edward Cullen, Kristen Stewart, Eclipse movie

After Twilight and New Moon, I've watched Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the third installment of the super-successful vampire film franchise.

It all begins with a choice.

Bella is a making choice between Edward and Jacob. It's a choice between Edward - her true love and immortality; and Jacob - her friend and path to human life. It's complicated, just like what love can be. She finds herself tapped into this love triangle and as the main target of Victoria, who is determined to hurt Edward by killing her.

There's tension between Edward and Jacob but they find common ground and unite to fight an army of vampire newborns who is out to kill Bella. The Cullens and the Native werewolves, who are longtime enemies, teams up to fight the newborns created by Victoria.

One of the best scene happens in the tent. Not only does it make Edward and Jacob connect and understand each other, but it makes the audience roar with laughter. Jacob tells Edward, "Let's face it, I'm hotter than you".

The movie has a light-hearted sense of humor. We can see Jacob topless most of the time (which keeps the audience screaming). To which Edward says, "Doesn't he own a shirt?" The scene when Bella goes from one hot kiss from Edward, to a half-naked Jacob who wraps her in his warm arms, is quite entertaining. The movie also touched other angles of the characters and character flashbacks.

The movie satisfies what Twilight fans crave for and expect - the great vamp vs. werewolf fight scenes, a shirtless teen hunk, a heartbreaking love, and witty one-liners.

Twilight Saga: Eclipse is the most action-packed of all three Twilight films. A simple storyline with action, adventure and history. This makes it the best. It's easy to understand why this movie appeals so much to teenage fans.

My favorite movie lines -

Bella (to Edward): "It's a choice between being who I should be, and who I am"
Edward (To Bella): "Isabella Swan, I promise to love you every moment of forever."
Edward (To Jacob): "If we weren't natural enemies, and you weren't trying to steal my reason for existing, I might like you"
Jacob (To Bella): "I'm gonna fight for you, until your heart stops beating."
Jacob ((To Charlie Swan): "I kissed Bella. Then she hurt her hand, punching my face".
Rosalie (to Bella): "You have a choice. I didn't. None of us did, but you do, and you're choosing wrong!"

Special thanks to High Sierra Philippines for my 4 movie tickets. I've got to watch the Special Screening at Trinoma Cinema 6 with my hubby and his officemates.

When I Least Expect It

When I least expect it, good things come and something great comes along...

Whenever I join online contest, I never expected to win. Not expecting would free myself from disappointment if I lose. Not every day is a lucky day, this I accept. I would simply hope that I'll get lucky and have a chance at winning. What is important for me is that I've gave my best, joined fairly and had fun.

I've even joined contests wherein the number with the "most likes" win. But this has never been for me. I don't have much time to spent on campaigning for my entry and asking people to give me their support. I also understand that some don't have much time to give either. Still, I will continue supporting my friends.

Today I'm lucky I've won!

I've joined Kumiko Mae of Chase Beautiful Things contest - her Mid-Year contest and her Philippine Ballet Swan Lake's contest. Yes, I've got the 3 tickets for the ballet performance and a consolation prize as well for her Mid-Year contest! Thankful to random.org for choosing me! I only have 27 entries, which is just half compared to other's entries. I'm really happy for the luck and glad that I joined her contest too.

What made me grateful even more is reading this post at Kumiko Mae's Facebook wall -

Thank you Russ of Grampy's World!

He had read my blog post and commented at Kumiko Mae's Facebook wall! I am really surpised that he even took time to join the contest for my little girl! I really appreciate this and it made me smile. I never asked, but he showed me his support in the best way that he can. I haven't visited his blog for quite some time, but I am truly grateful for knowing a good online blogger friend like him.

Of course, I also appreciate my fellow bloggers who drops by on my blog, post their comments and sends me messages. I owe you all a lot of visits!
