One Easy Way to Feel Secure

One of the great things about being serene is the total lack of work involved in it. It's very hard to explain, but the act of suspending your "work" at being serene is just so freeing. You can let the feeling of lightness and security just wash over you when you stop "trying" to feel that way. I can't tell you how great it is to just let go of the things that do not matter, and embrace what does in a non-judgmental sort of way. I may sound a little goofy when I say it that way, but it's true. One good way to start on this kind of path is with the little things in life.

Take car insurance, for instance. Most people just don't think much about what car insurance really means in their lives. They just grumble a little bit, write a check and pretty much forget about it. But think about how your insurance protects you. Not only does it protect you if somebody who does not have insurance slams into your car (which happens, no sense denying it), it also protects you from having to pay your bottom dollar to someone else's auto mechanic if you ever end up being the guilty party in an accident.

Now granted, most of us will never have anything more serious than a fender bender or two. And that's something to be grateful for, certainly. But if you ever were to get into an accident, it could be pretty jarring on your feelings. Emotional turmoil is not the ideal state, by any means, but serenity involves accepting what is without judging it. Once you accept how you feel, you have to start putting things right in the world. And insurance on your car is a pretty big step in doing that, since repairing damaged cars tends to be a little expensive to do.
