Chinese New Year's Dragon Dance

It was Chinese New Year when we chanced upon seeing a dragon dance while shopping inside SM department store at Megamall. Shoppers and onlookers alike gathered to witness the performance.

Dragon dance is a form of traditional dance and performance in Chinese culture. (Source: Wikipedia). It is where the performers hold the dragon up on poles, raising it up and down making it "dance," and moves in a wave-like pattern.

Dragon dance is important part that highlights Chinese New Year celebrations. The dragon represents wisdom, wealth and power and brings good luck to people. It is believed that a dragaon dance performed on New Year's Day scares away evil spirits.
